GCalExtras — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 July 2026

GCalExtras is a Google Calendar add-on that lets you copy or move events in bulk across date ranges and calendars, apply calendar presets, and keep private notes on your events. This policy explains what data the add-on accesses, why it needs each permission, and how your data is protected. It is written to be plain and specific, particularly about the Google permissions the add-on requests.

GCalExtras is provided by GCalTools (GERSTENBERG, France, SIRET 511 482 481 00016).

The Google permissions we request, and why

When you install GCalExtras it requests the permissions it needs to work, and no more. Each permission below is listed with the specific reason the add-on needs it:

  • See, edit, share, and permanently delete all the calendars you can access using Google Calendar (googleapis.com/auth/calendar) — this is required to show and hide calendars, to copy custom colours between calendars, and to create and delete events when you copy or move them.
  • Run as a Calendar add-on (googleapis.com/auth/calendar.addons.execute) — this is required to run GCalExtras inside Google Calendar as an add-on.
  • See, edit, create, and delete your spreadsheets in Google Drive (googleapis.com/auth/spreadsheets) — this is needed to write the private notes to a Sheet that you own.
  • Connect to an external service (googleapis.com/auth/script.external_request) — this is used to periodically check if you have purchased the full version, and to open the website in a new tab.
  • View your country, language, and timezone (googleapis.com/auth/script.locale) — this is used to internationalize the add-on.
  • See your primary Google Account email address (googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email, googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile) — these are required by all add-ons.

You can revoke these permissions at any time from your Google Account security settings at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions, or by removing the add-on. Revoking access stops GCalExtras from reading or changing your calendars.

How we use Google data (limited use)

GCalExtras's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • We use calendar and spreadsheet access only to provide the features you use in GCalExtras.
  • We do not transfer this data to others except as needed to provide the service or to comply with law.
  • We do not use this data for advertising.
  • We do not sell this data.
  • We do not allow humans to read your calendar data, except with your explicit consent, to comply with law, or for security.

What we read versus what we store

Your calendar is read live at the moment you use the add-on, to perform the copy, move, or edit that you have asked for. We do not keep a copy of your calendar on any server of ours.

The private notes feature writes notes to a Google Sheet that you own, in your own Google Drive. Those notes stay in your Sheet; we do not store them.

The only data GCalExtras transmits externally is your Google account email address, sent encrypted (over HTTPS) to our licence server to check whether you have purchased the full version. Your calendar and Sheet content is never transmitted to us.

Purchases

The optional full-version upgrade is purchased through our website. Payments are processed by Stripe on Stripe's own secure systems; GCalExtras never sees or stores your card details. We store only the reference and status Stripe returns, so we can confirm and support your purchase.

How we protect your data

All communication with Google APIs and with our licence server uses HTTPS (TLS) encryption. GCalExtras uses OAuth2 to authenticate — at no point does GCalExtras have access to your Google password; you authorize access on google.com directly, and can revoke it at any time.

Data retention and deletion

Google user data is not retained by us. Your calendar is read live and no copy is kept; private notes live in your own Google Sheet. The only personal data we hold is the record of your purchase (your email address and the associated Stripe references), kept so we can validate your licence and meet our legal and accounting obligations.

To request deletion of your purchase record, contact us at the address below. Removing the add-on from your Google Account immediately revokes all of the permissions above.

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will change the date at the top of this page for any material change.
