Your Data Stays on Your Device
Keep Manager is a local desktop application. It reads your Google Keep Takeout backup ZIP file directly from your computer. No data is ever transmitted, uploaded, or shared — not with us, not with any third party, not with Google.
What Keep Manager Reads
Keep Manager reads the Takeout ZIP file that you provide. It parses that file locally to display your notes, checklists, labels, and images inside the app. Nothing from that file leaves your device.
Google Account Access
Keep Manager uses one Google API permission: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/tasks.readonly. This read-only scope is used solely to retrieve reminder dates associated with your Keep notes. No other Google account data is accessed, and the app cannot create, modify, or delete any data in your Google account. Keep Manager cannot read from or write to your live Google Keep notes — it remains a viewer for offline Takeout backups.
Keep Manager's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with third parties.
How Your Google Data Is Protected
Keep Manager processes Google user data entirely on your local device. The following safeguards apply to any sensitive data the app handles:
- Local-only processing. Reminder dates fetched from the Google Tasks API are loaded into the app's memory on your computer and matched against your Keep notes locally. They are never transmitted to any server operated by us or to any third party.
- Encrypted transport. All communication with Google APIs uses HTTPS (TLS) encryption, as required by Google.
- Local credential storage. Your Google OAuth tokens (the credentials that authorize Keep Manager to read your reminder dates) are stored locally on your device, scoped to your operating-system user account, and are never transmitted to us or any third party.
- Minimum necessary access. Keep Manager requests only the read-only
tasks.readonlyscope. It cannot modify, delete, or write any data to your Google account. - No backend servers. There is no Keep Manager server, database, or cloud component that stores or relays your Google data. All requests go directly from your device to Google.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because Keep Manager has no servers, we do not retain any Google user data ourselves. The only Google data that exists on your device is:
- Reminder dates retrieved from Google Tasks. These are held in memory while the app is running and may be written to a local cache file inside the app's user-data folder on your computer so the app does not have to refetch them on every launch.
- OAuth tokens stored locally on your device and scoped to your operating-system user account.
You can remove this data at any time:
- Sign out inside Keep Manager. Signing out clears the cached reminder data and deletes the stored OAuth tokens from your device.
- Revoke access in your Google Account. Visit https://myaccount.google.com/permissions and remove Keep Manager. This immediately invalidates the app's tokens on Google's side, so it can no longer fetch reminder data.
- Uninstall the app. Removing Keep Manager and its user-data folder deletes all locally cached reminder data and the stored OAuth tokens from your device.
Since no Google user data is sent to us, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on a server. If you have followed the steps above and still have a question about deletion, email us at info@gcaltools.com.
No Analytics or Tracking
Keep Manager does not include analytics, crash reporting, telemetry, or any form of usage tracking. We have no visibility into how or whether you use the app.
No Account Required
Keep Manager does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information. There is no registration, login, or subscription.
Exports
If you use the export features (Markdown, Evernote ENEX, or email sharing), those actions are initiated by you and handled by your operating system or mail client. Keep Manager does not transmit exported content on your behalf.
Updates
Keep Manager may check GitHub for a new release version when you open the app. That request contains no personal or identifying information — it is a standard anonymous HTTP request to the GitHub Releases API.
